Puppies are ready now. Don't miss out!
Meet the
team family
When Premium Pets was founded in 2010 by Dianne Shefford, she set out to be a breeder dogs love. Since the whole family joined her adventure and Vincent Shefford took over managing the operations in 2020.

1… is to ensure your Puppy is healthy! To that end we DNA test all our dogs with a full breed profile. Over 12 years of experience in genetical analysis and conscientious breeding has paid off!

2… is to give your puppy a happy childhood! The puppies are whelped and raised in a family home with lots of attention from us and strangers, playtime with other bigger dogs and cats, household noises such as cars, vacuume cleaner etc.. All of this attention to their early days results in confident, well socialised pups.

3… is to sooth your pups transition to the new home! The puppies do not leave their litter before they are 8 weeks or older to prevent separation anxiety. We will also provide you with a crate, blanket and toy filled with comforting familiar smells to help settle a pup for its first nights.

4… is to ensure your puppy and parents have all the space they need! All the boys live at our homestead while most of the girls are living in family homes and only come to the homestead to be mated and sometimes to raise their pups. This is made possible by our guardian program.

5… is to take good care of your pups parents! Girls are not mated before their second season and have a maximum of 3 litters, after which they are desexed.
Important to us

We proudly present:
Our Guardian Programme
Dianne started Breeding dogs in 2010 and just loved the early days of breeding. The breeding girls were her pet dogs, sleeping on her bed and usually having their pups there as well! This worked really well until she got to 7 dogs on the bed and had to say 'that’s enough'. At the same time she was fascinated by genetics and wanted to expand the gene pool, which meant getting more dogs. But rather than having the breeding girls live in kennels, she wanted them to live as family pets, thus our Guardian Programme was developed. Today all our breeding girls are living in a guardian home, as part of a family and we believe this is what makes us stand apart as breeders.
